Two months before US election, polls indicate close race between Harris, Trump
Thursday marks two months until the US presidential election on November 5. Polls suggest a close race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.
Political information site Real Clear Politics says Harris had 48.1 percent support while Trump had 46.2 percent in the national polling average as of August 30.
Harris has been emphasizing her relative youth and highlighting the middle class as a priority since she became the Democratic Party's presidential nominee after President Joe Biden ended his reelection bid.
Her Republican rival has criticized Harris's record as vice president. Trump says the Biden administration has failed to achieve results in tackling inflation and illegal immigration on the Mexican border.
The two candidates are scheduled to hold their first presidential debate next Tuesday. The outcome could have an impact on undecided voters.
