Security concerns remain in Bangladesh a week after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stepped down in the face of deadly clashes between student protestors and police.

Student-led demonstrations have spread across the country to protest against government job quotas since July. Clashes with police left more than 300 people dead, and the prime minister was forced to resign on August 5.

Hundreds of students continued demonstrations in the capital, Dhaka, on Sunday.

One participant said he demanded all officials close to the Hasina administration be expelled.

Many students painted pictures on walls to express the joy of winning freedom, and others mourned the victims of police crackdowns.

One of them said they will stage more protests if the new administration tries to suppress citizens.

Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus was sworn in on Thursday as the head of the country's interim government.

But the police agency is not functioning out of fear of retaliation from citizens, raising concerns that security could deteriorate.
