Maggie Haberman Explains Why Liz Cheney’s Harris Move Will Really Tick Off Trump
Former Rep. Liz Cheney’s (R-Wyo.) endorsement of Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in the 2024 election is sure to rile Republican candidate Donald Trump, The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman said on Wednesday.
Cheney announced earlier in the day that she will vote for Harris over the former president in November.

And because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not voting for Donald Trump, but I am voting for Kamala Harris,” the former congresswoman told an audience at Duke University, North Carolina.
CNN’s John Berman asked Haberman how much the news would get under Trump’s skin.
Haberman noted Trump’s penchant for commenting on pretty much everything under the sun and acknowledged there’s a “real possibility he’ll talk about this in negative terms.”

Cheney “bothers him a great deal,” said Haberman. Cheney was a fierce critic of Trump during her time in Congress. She was ousted from House GOP leadership over her repeated slamming of him.
Haberman then highlighted the message that Cheney’s endorsement of Harris could send to some conservatives.
