Russian attack on Ukrainian city killed Reuters safety adviser, Zelenskyy says
A Reuters news agency crew member was killed in a strike on a hotel in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk as Russia and Ukraine continue to attack each other's territories.
Reuters reported on Sunday that Ryan Evans, a former British soldier, was killed in the strike. It said he had been working as a safety adviser around the world with the agency since 2022, including in Israel. It also said the attack wounded seven people, including two Reuters reporters.
In a video address on Sunday, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the hotel was hit by a Russian Iskander ballistic missile. He condemned Russia, saying the attack was carried out "absolutely purposefully, in a thought out way."
Russian forces on Monday carried out massive attacks using missiles and drones across Ukraine. Local media have reported on deaths in Dnipro in the east and in Lutsk in the west. The attacks caused blackouts in many locations and interruptions in water supplies in some parts of the capital, Kyiv.
The Russian defense ministry on Monday announced that its air defenses shot down 20 drones overnight over Russian regions, including the Saratov Region in the south and the Kursk Region in the west.
Saratov's governor said debris from the drones hit residential buildings, wounding some residents.
